I thought the light was a gimmick at first, but when it was late afternoon and I find myself inside a building with no lights, the light was great. Of course if you are going to use this tool all day long there are better options. This is a great hammer drill for everyday purposes. I have tried other hammer drills but for the money you can't beat this one. I bought the Makita HP2070F for my all day use Hammer Drill and it is a beast. It has good power and nice features, such as the L.E.D. light.
Now, mind you this is a CORDED 2-speed gearcase hammer drill, so when we plugged it in an tried to use a 1-1/8" ship auger in a 2x6 - guess what - the clutch kicked in - THE CLUTCH. Looks like a bunch of LAWYERS designed this TOY.
needless to say, the mak went right back into the box and back to Amazon. So I pulled out my 5371 milwaukee and instantly blew through the wood.
As a long time milwaukee drill fan (and an extremely happy owner of the venerable Milwaukee 5371 2 sp hammer drill from 1984). This is not a cordless screwdriver - but a "heavy duty" drill.
In exchange, I ordered the NEW version of my drill, the Milwaukee 5387-22 and it is every bit as good as the old one - and in a totally different league than the BLUE TOY from Makita. As usual, AMAZON was Amazing in the ease of return and fairness factor - thanks Amazon.my 2 cents. I purchased this Makita for an employee at his request - and it was cheaper to boot.
nice touch for an underpowered drill - like a small drill like this needs a clutch.
